Wedding Suite Design
M&C
Year: 2025
Type: Student Project
Role: Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Writer, Printer
Brief: The goal for this project was to create an illustrated wedding suite, heavily inspired by the styles of art deco and art noveau. The finished package comprised of a Save the Date card, a Wedding Invitation card, and a Menu card, which are the essentials of any wedding suite. The cards were illustrated, designed, typeset, printed, and photographed. These photos were then turned into mockups and social-media ready posts.
Process: I began by researching and brainstorming ideas for the aesthetic of the cards. Once I settled on the general vibe of them, I began drawing up sketches for the designs, and eventually settled on 1 set that I moved forward with. I immediately got started on the illustrations of the card, simultaneously working out the color scheme of the cards. After a number of drafts, I settled on a final illustration. After this, I began font-shopping and writing the content for the cards, which was inspired by the 1950s era in the USA. For this card, it was integral that the font did not take away from the illustration, but rather added to it. Therefore I went through a few options before deciding on a single font family that I used throughout the 3 cards. I typeset the content and trialed a few colors before settling on a 3 colors that are used across the suite, varying in tints.
After this step, I started paper shopping, and settled on a beautiful, pearlescent, champagne colored paper to add some intrigue and opulence to the cards. I made the decision to print in house, and then photographed the cards to create social media ready posts, which was the secondary part to this project. I decided on 3 photoshoots: a staged flatlay- a la wedding photography, an outdoor floral shoot, and a traditional product shoot. I then edited the photos, created mockups, and created a social media feed to promote the suite.
