About Me
Hi, I’m Jamila! I was born and raised in Long Island, NY. At 13, I left home for boarding school and spent seven years studying on-campus at Al Jamea-tus-Saifiyah, an Arabic immersion institute, in Surat, India. I returned home in 2020 and continued my education online while simultaneously enrolling in university in the U.S. I earned my Master’s Degree in Arab History and Literature in 2024 and am currently on track to graduate from CUNY Baruch College in May 2025 with a Bachelor’s in Business Communications/Graphic Communications.
As a kid, I was nicknamed “firecracker” for my sociable nature, sense of humor, and creative spark—traits I still carry into my work today. I’ve always been drawn to the arts and have explored many forms of creative expression, eventually finding my niche in graphic design. Through freelancing, I’ve been able to turn that passion into a profession. I thrive on challenges and am always eager to expand both my portfolio and my skillset.

I’m a creative at heart.
The ability to take ‘nothing’ and make something from it has always been a concept that has captivated me. That has been what has drawn me to the world of art from the very beginning. While I’ve dappled in watercolor, photography, pyrography, mural painting, crafting, embroidery, hand calligraphy (the list goes on), I finally settled on graphic design as my creative outlet of choice. Art has this incredible ability to surpass barriers of all kinds to unite its viewers. That is the kind of art that I wish to create.
