About: RentPal is community-based rental platform. It does the job of the ‘middleman’. It serves as the intermediary between renter and rentee, providing a platform upon which a community can create an account for their members to log-in to, and browse the items available to rent for every type of party and every kind of occasion; from weddings to club events to amateur theater productions.

Problem & Solution: RentPal was created out of a need. After hosting events, we saw that people had a lot of essentially one time use decor leftover, which inevitably ended up in a cycle of box-to-closet-to-storage-to-trash. Through interviews, we found that people firstly, struggle with storing these items long term, and secondly, are willing to rent out their items not only to recoup some investments, but to help out members of their communities. The overwhelming response from interviewees was that they were willing to rent, but there just wasn’t a way to do it conveniently and without sacrificing the vision for their event-- thus RentPal was born.
